Faster, Higher (Education), Stronger: Universities Week 2012
This year’s Universities Week runs from Monday 30 April to Monday 7 May and is themed around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Leicester, along with other British universities, will be highlighting examples of how our work connects with the Olympics and Olympic ideals. This is nothing new to us – we staged our own Olympic games nearly 150 years ago.
We have current and former students who are Olympians, and our departments have studied the science, sociology and history of the Olympics. Over the course of the week Newsblog will bring you examples of connections between the University of Leicester and the Olympics.
Organised by Universities UK and British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), Universities Week 2012 aims to aims to increase public awareness of the wide and varied role of the UK’s universities. It will culminate in the BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships, which will be held in the Olympic Stadium as part of the London Prepares series.
