Human toll of factory production
Dr Pun Ngai of Hong Kong Polytechnic University is visiting Leicester on 24 October and will speak about labour conditions for some Chinese workers. The talk is the first in the Centre for Labour Market Studies' (CLMS) seminar program for 2011-2012, which will focus on the topic of Changes in Labour Relations and Alternative Forms of Organising.
The seminar season is convened by Dr Rutvica Andrijasevic, who joined us this year from the Open University. Her research focuses on migration and labour markets with an emphasis on gender and sexuality, and her recent book Agency, Migration and Citizenship in Sex Trafficking has been published by Palgrave. This year's program of seminars by CLMS will cover topics such as migration, gender, labour and alternative forms of organising, and will look at how employment relations are changing in a changing world.
Dr Pun Ngai's talk will take place on 24 October 2011 at 2.00pm at the Centre for Labour Market Studies, 7-9 Salisbury Road. Places can be reserved by emailing ms278@le.ac.uk
