Space scientists and industry representatives are lobbying for a new multi-million pound centre to providing research expertise to industry.

The Leicester Mercury reports that the University of Leicester forms part of a consortium working to win funding for a Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) dedicated to space research.

The University has 50 years of experience and expertise in space science and has been involved in space missions for the past 45 years, making it an ideal partner in the project. The TIC aims to attract more investment in space research and the businesses that provide services to the space industry, many of which already operate in Leicestershire.
