Training an army of entrepreneurs

Boot camps can not only successfully train military and fitness enthusiasts but also businesspeople.

Michael Allen, a second year undergraduate in our Department of Chemistry, launched his new business venture after realising that school did not prepare him for the practical application of business theories in the real world.

So he set up a Business Boot Camp with the aim of preparing entrepreneurs ready to make an impact in their communities.

Thanks to his initiative other young people aged 18-25 with a passion for business can learn the necessary skills to run their own enterprise.

The University is supporting the Business Boot Camp through the Enterprise Inc Project with a business package support worth over £5,000, in addition to the £20,000 which Michael raised himself.

Young people taking part in the Boot Camp will attend lectures and workshops given by local, national and internationally recognised business leaders, providing them with a first-hand insight and inspiration to fuel their ambition.

  • Places are still available for young entrepreneurs wishing to take part in the programme. Application form and more information available at www.ukbizbootcamp.com
