Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Council.

John Sinnott is a record-breaker: he is the longest-serving County Council Chief Executive in England. And he will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Leicester on 15 July.

Sinnott is Chief Exec of Leicestershire County Council, which is on a bit of a roll. Last year it was named Council of the Year in the Local Government Chronicle Awards. Over the years he has been involved with all the major partnerships between the City and the County (which are separate Local Authorities) including the establishing the local economic development company Prospect Leicestershire.

He is particularly keen on promoting sport and sits on the East Midlands Steering Group for the 2012 Olympics.
