Returning and renewing your loans
Items may be returned using the self-service book return on the Ground Floor of the David Wilson Library. You will receive a receipt listing what has been returned. There is also a book drop facility at the entrance to the Library. Note: returning items from document supply is handled differently.
- When will I be sent email reminders?
- How do I renew my items?
- Overdue items
- How do I pay my fines?
- When will I be sent notices that my books are overdue?
- Non returned items
If you have an email address, the Library will send you a reminder of items due for return or renewal prior to their due date. This service is not available to borrowers without email or for short loan items. Please note that reminders do not guarantee that items are available for renewal.
|Item||Email reminder sent|
|All items except those below||2 days before the item is due for return|
|6 monthly loans||10 days before the due date|
|Journals||The day before the journal is due back|
|Short loan items||Reminders are not sent|
Items can be renewed by:
- Using the self-service issue machines
- Using the Library Catalogue. Choose 'My Account' from the top menu, then enter your library card number and PIN.
- In person. Take the items to the Service Desk and ask staff to renew them.
- By telephoning the renewals number: (0116) 252 2043
Please have your library card number available. If we are able to renew your loans, please make a note of the new due date, a receipt with the new return date will be issued in the self-service issue machines.
Items cannot be renewed if they have a hold for another reader. You need to ensure you have allowed sufficient time to return held items, or you may incur a fine.
We will send you notices, if you have any overdue items. Fines will be payable on them. You will be unable to borrow or reserve books and we will not action Inter-Library Loan requests if items are very late or reserved for another user.
Please note that items attract the following Fines and Charges if they are overdue.
Fines and charges can be paid in person using cash or debit or credit card. You can also pay for any invoices by debit or credit card over the telephone. Please contact our Enquiry Service on 0116 252 2043.
