Requesting books, journals and other resources
We welcome purchase suggestions from academic staff for books, journals and electronic resources.
For individual book titles
Contact your department's Library representative to find out about arrangements in your department. If appropriate complete the Library Order Form. Please complete as much of the form as possible. The Library will assume that departmental approval for purchase has been given to all requests received from academics.
For books to support teaching modules
Complete the Library Order Form. If the module is new or substantially revised we are happy to work directly from the reading list itself. Please let us have Library Order Forms well in advance of the start of teaching.
For individual journal titles, electronic or print
Check if the journal is already on the Journals Wishlist (login required).
If not, please contact the appropriate Information Librarian.
New journals can be funded by Departments providing the Library with additional funding to their Library allocation, or by cancellation of existing departmental subscriptions. Decisions on cancellations need to be made by September in any given year, and confirmed by the Department's Library representative.
Other electronic resources
This primarily means electronic databases which index the academic literature (such as Web of Science), which contain electronic publications (such as Early English Books Online) or both.
Check if the resource is already on the Electronic Resources Wishlist (login required).
If not, please contact the appropriate Information Librarian.
We will do our best to purchase your recommendation, but we cannot guarantee that every request will be met, as purchase is dependent on the availability of funds within a department's library allocation.
