Create or Create and Add to List

If you haven’t logged into readinglists@Leicester you will be prompted to log in when you start creating a bookmark.
When you bookmark resources, you have two options.  You can either Create or Create and Add to List.  Clicking on the Create button saves your bookmark and takes you back to the original page that you were viewing.  Clicking on the Create and Add to List button allows you to save your bookmark and also add it into your list at the same time.

If you click on Create and Add to List you will be asked to fill out the information below

Create and add to list

  • Select the list that you want to add the resource to.
  • Select the section if you want the resource to appear in a specific section.
  • You can select the importance for your students; this will also impact the number of copies and format purchased by the Library. If the importance field is not selected the Library will assume the item is background reading.
  • You have the option to add a note to your students and/or to the Library. Library notes and importance settings will be seen by the Library once your list is published.
  • Select OK and then continue searching.

If you click on Create, you can add the bookmark to your list by going into the edit view of your list.  You can set the importance, add notes for students and notes for the library once you’ve added the bookmark by clicking on Edit notes and importance in the edit view.

Importing bookmarks from bibliographic software

It is possible to import bookmarks directly from bibliographic software such as RefWorks or Endnote, however this feature is not recommended due to the quality of the bookmarks imported.  If you would like to use this feature follow the instructions below.  Please be aware you will need to undertake manual editing of the bookmarks once they are imported into readinglists@Leicester.
You can upload resources from reference management software directly into your ‘My Bookmarks’ in the form of an RIS or text file.

  1. Export the resources from the reference management software and save them to your computer as a .ris or .txt file.
  2. Go to readinglists@Leicester and click the My Bookmarks tab (login if prompted).
  3. Click Add Bookmark, then Import Citations.
  4. Browse to, and select the file that contains the references and click Import.

You have the option to assemble the uploaded resources automatically into a brand new reading list. If you want to use them to update an existing list, please leave this option unselected.
