Caricature and Cartoon Exhibition

The exaggerations of life.
Gladstone
Rt. Hon. W. E. Gladstone, M.P. from 'The London Sketch Book, an Illustrated Newspaper and Magazine', (London, 1874-5)

The latest Special Collections exhibitions in the David Wilson Library presents a different view of life. From the pain of gout and the nightmares of sleep to the difficulties of daily life, artists have depicted their understanding of the world.

Politics have proved to be a source of inspiration over the years and whether it be the motives of anarchists in Leicester or the proposed tax reforms in eighteenth century France, there is a picture to stimulate discussion.

Come and see '...the lasting truth beneath the surface of mere outward appearance'*   in the basement of the Library until 31st June 2012.
