- No, we have increasingly been able to archive publications of all kinds, including books and book chapters.
- Who will use my work hosted on LRA?
- Publications are accessed from around the world with our most regular visitors coming from America, the UK, Canada, China, India, Australia and Germany.
Depositing
- How do I deposit publications?
- How can I get help depositing through IRIS?
- If I add my work can I still publish or use it elsewhere?
- Yes, adding it to the LRA does not stop you reusing it; subject to your publisher's license agreement conditions.
- I have printed publications, can they be scanned?
- Potentially yes, although please contact us to discuss this further.
- I've published in an open access title, can I still add my work?
- Yes, although we will still need to check the license as some open access titles do not allow for archiving.
- Can I add work written collaboratively?
- Yes, unless you have published in an open access title. In that case you should seek permission from all of the authors first.
Formats
- What version of a publication should I provide the LRA with?
- What formats does the LRA support?
- We will consider any file format, although we may wish to undertake file conversion if we feel the format is unlikely to last.
- Do I have to send materials already in PDF format?
- For theses yes as it is a Graduate School requirement. For all other items the LRA will accept them in whatever format you provide them.
- I have publications in a printed format, can they be scanned into the LRA?
- Potentially but please contact us to discuss this further.

I've articles in languages other than English, can I place them in the LRA?

Yes, the LRA will happily accept items in any language.

Where can I find out more about LRA's policies and operations?
- Are items ever removed from LRA?
- Are there any University policies on open access?

There are two - a one for academic research output, and another for doctoral theses.
- I am new to the University. Can I add my previous work to LRA?
- Yes. The University of Leicester Research Publications Policy mandates addition of work from 2006 on, but we would accept scholarly work of any age.
- I'm a Leicester student, can I add my work to LRA?
- If it is a research publication (e.g. book, journal article, technical report etc) then yes. We don't normally accept coursework from students.
Theses
- How do I submit my thesis electronically?
- How do I obtain permission to include a copyrighted item?

- Are there any options to delay my eThesis going live?
- How do I request a moratorium or apply for an embargo?
- Where do I find guidance on formatting my thesis?
- How do I find electronic theses (eTheses) on the LRA?
- Can any theses be placed on LRA?
- We only accept theses submitted for doctoral degrees awarded by the University of Leicester. We don't usually accept taught masters' dissertations.
- How do I withhold only a part(s) of my thesis?
- For example if an image, chart or even a whole section needs to be kept offline; but you still want to gain some of the benefits of placing your thesis online then you may submit an edited thesis.
- Who can offer me more advice about moratorium or embargos?
- Speak to your supervisor in the first instance. The Graduate School can answer broader questions and the LRA's Admin Team is happy to advise on submission.
- I want my thesis PDF to have both Roman and Arabic page numbering - is this possible?
- Yes, although you will need to have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro in order to do this. Contact to the LRA's Admin team for more advice
