Description

Complete online access to the texts of ancient Greek historians including Brill’s New Jacoby (edited by Ian Worthington) and Die Fragmente der Griechischen Historiker or Fragments of the Greek Historians (FGrHist) Parts I-V (edited by Felix Jacoby).

Brill’s New Jacoby presents the fragments of 856 ancient Greek historians writings: presenting the original text, an English translation, critical commentary, a summary of the historian’s life and works, and a selected bibliography.  The database is accessible by the historian’s name or fragment number, by a subject classification, and by a free-text search.   Register to create a Brill account, enabling additional functionality including saving results, adding labels and exporting citations to bibliographic software.
