Description
The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII) Pilot Service provides free internet access to British and Irish legal materials. As at March 6 2000, BAILII includes 14 databases covering 5 jurisdictions. The system contains around 400 megabytes of legal materials and over 75,000 searchable documents with about 2 million hypertext links.
The databases on BAILII are derived from a number of sources. Some databases are based from material which is already available on the Web. Other databases are taken from published CD-ROMs, or are provided directly by courts and government departments. All of the data has been converted into a different (and uniform) format.
