Services for Learners
Jackie provides help and advice on finding appropriate information for your assignments, and how to cite references. She also offers training in RefWorks, improving your web searching techniques, accessing journal articles and using resources such as Westlaw, Lexis, Criminal Justice Abstracts, Historical Abstracts, British Education Index and ERIC. Services for Researchers
Jackie provides help and advice on literature searching, accessing library resources, keeping up to date with your research interests, copyright, citation data, improving your searching techniques, and using RefWorks. She can advise you on impact factors, open access publishing, depositing items in the Leicester Research Archive (LRA) and where to find information on the best places to publish your research. She can provide training sessions on any of the above to you, or your students. She liaises with, and purchases library resources for the Department of Criminology, the School of Education, the School of Law and the Institute of Lifelong Learning.
Professional Information
Jackie is a qualified and chartered librarian, with an MSc in Information and Library Management (specialising in Official and Legal Information), and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (MCLIP). Jackie is an active member of the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL), Association of Law Librarians in Central England (ALLICE) and East Midlands Legal Information Professionals (EMLIP), and she currently serves on BIALL's Professional Development Committee. Jackie is particularly interested in information literacy, and teaching legal research skills.
