Services

Simon leads our Digital Humanities & Special Collections team. He is responsible for developing and managing the Library's and other University research collections and exploiting digital technologies to reach new audiences for these collections. Simon also provides advice to staff and students in the humanities on the use of digital technology in their research

Professional interests

Simon has contributed to a number of historical research projects which have involved the creation of electronic resources including the Dissenting Academies Project and the Eighteenth-Century Devon: People and Communities Project. He is also a research active historian, and is interested in the religious and social history of Britain during the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in particular the history of Quakerism and religious nonconformity, the professions in nineteenth-century Britain and the study of local and regional histories. He co-convenes the London Digital Humanities Group which meets twice a term.
