Services for Learners
Jackie is the liaison librarian for undergraduate and postgraduate students in American Studies, Archaeology & Ancient History, Criminology, History, History of Art & Film, Law, Museum Studies. She can provide help and training on finding information and improving your literature searching techniques using the library catalogue and subject specialist databases. She can also provide advice and training on referencing using the Harvard, MHRA and OSCOLA referencing styles, and in the RefWorks and EndNote reference management systems.
Services for Academic Staff
Jackie is the liaison librarian for academic staff in American Studies, Archaeology & Ancient History, Criminology, History, History of Art & Film, Law, Museum Studies. She is the contact person for enquiries about your library budget, library book orders, and journal/database subscriptions. She can also provide library inductions for you and your students, and training on reading list systems, literature searching, referencing and dissertation research skills.
Jackie works with Helen Steele (Research Information Advisor) to provide researchers with help and advice about the library, literature searching, keeping up to date with research interests, copyright, and citation data. Helen can also advise you on impact factors, open access publishing, and depositing items in the (LRA).
Jackie is a qualified and chartered librarian, with an MSc in Information and Library Management (specialising in official and legal information), and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (MCLIP). She is currently studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. Before joining the University of Leicester, she worked as the law librarian at in Birmingham (2001-2012). She is also a member of the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL), East Midlands Legal Information Professionals (EMLIP), and Chair of BIALL's Professional Development Committee. Jackie is particularly interested in legal research and information literacy.
