Services

Ian leads our Research Services team which provides support and training for researchers in advanced information management skills.  Ian also provides advice and training in all aspects of bibliometrics to both researchers and administrative staff and promotes the use bibliometrics and their role in research evaluation.  He is keen to support researchers in maximising the exposure of their research outputs through mechanisms such as researcher web pages and the Leicester Research Archive.

Professional interests

Ian serves on the editorial boards of Learned Publishing and the Journal of Informetrics.  He is a member of the UK Serials Group Usage Factor International Advisory Board which is exploring the feasibility of a new journal impact measure based on usage data.  He is also a member of the Research4Life Impact Advisory Team which is working with publishers to promote free access to the scientific literature in developing countries.
