Services for Researchers

Helen provides help and advice on literature searching, accessing library resources, keeping up to date with your research interests, copyright, citation data, Web 2.0 technologies, improving your searching techniques, and using bibliographic software. She can advise you on impact factors, open access publishing, depositing items in the Leicester Research Archive (LRA) and where to find information on the best places to publish your research. She can provide training sessions on any of the above to you, or your students.

On weekday afternoons Helen is based in the Graduate School Reading Room, providing support to the postgraduate community. Please feel free to visit or follow Helen on any of the social networking platforms listed above, email her or drop in to the Reading Room and see her in person. She will send out regular information on graduate events as well as sharing news items of interest to the postgraduate community.

Professional Interests

Helen recently submitted her PhD on 'The experiences of women in Vienna, 1943-1948'. She has previously taught at Swansea University and Bath Spa University. As a recent doctoral student, Helen understands the challenges that postgraduate students face, particularly those working away from their home institution. She is keen to help facilitate regular thesis workshops, as well as promoting virtual platforms that can be used at every stage of the research process. Prior to starting her thesis, Helen worked as a Project Editor at Adam Matthew Digital. She worked on the development of online research and teaching collections, including Medieval Travel Writing and the Virginia Company Archive.
