Postal Loan levels dramatically increased for Distance Learners
Increased postal loans for Distance Learners
From 16th January the number of items all distance learning students can have sent to them as postal loans has been increased. From now on students may request books up to their normal loan allowance, although no more than 10 items may be requested on any single day.
Current Borrowing allowances:
Research postgraduates 40
Undergraduates 20
Certificate students 12
Taught course postgraduates 25
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) students 40
Items are issued for a period of six weeks and should be returned or renewed by their due date. All items are issued subject to recall, which means if an item is required by another student you will need to return it earlier than the original due date.
Items not Available for Postal Loan
Unfortunately, items held in the Reference collection, Short Loan collections items, special collection books and print journals are not available as postal loans. However, reprints from print journals can be requested under the photocopies for distance learners scheme.
Postal Charges
While the Library pays for the outwards postage you are responsible for paying for any return postal charges. Note you are subject to the usual fines and charges for the non-return or loss of books. This includes any books that the courier company is unable to deliver to you, for whatever reason. We will also pass on any charges the courier company may make for returning uncollected or non-delivered books.
