We are gradually increasing electronic access to 'back files' of important journals when possible.
Acta Sanctorum
The Acta Sanctorum is a record of the lives of the saints, organised according to each saint’s feast day. The database is an electronic version of the complete print text that was published in 68 volumes by the Société des Bollandistes from 1643 to 1940.
Brepolis Latin
This includes the Archive of Celtic-Latin Literature, Aristoteles Latinus Database, Monumenta Germaniae Historica, Library of Latin Texts - Series A and B, Database of Latin Dictionaries.
Business and psychology journal back files
We now have electronic access to the following journal titles from their first publication:

Cambridge Histories Online
This provides access to the complete Cambridge Histories collection (currently over 260 titles). You can browse books by subject or search for individual titles. It includes American British, Economic, General, Science, Book, Language and Linguistics, Literary Studies, Music, Philosophy, Political and Social Theory, Regional, Religious Studies, Theatre Studies and Performing Arts, and Warfare Histories.
Earth and Environmental Sciences journals backfiles
This collection provides electronic access to the ‘back files’ of over 100 journal titles in the Earth and Environmental Sciences published by Springer, with first publication dates ranging from 1857 to 1996. A full list of titles
is available (as an Excel spreadsheet).
Ebrary
A major collection of electronic books with approximately 50,000 titles covering almost all subject areas of interest within the University. There is no limit to the number of people who can access each book at a time. Details of all these books will be added to the Catalogue as soon as possible.
Law e-books from Hart Publishing
Over 150 electronic books published by Hart and including such topics as money laundering, EU law, Human Rights and Labour law. These books are all included in the Catalogue.
Lecture notes in computer science archive (1973-1996)
Electronic access to every volume in this series published between 1973 and 1996. Recent years are available in print in the David Wilson Library at shelf mark 004/LEC Floor 1, Orange Zone. (Please note: Each issue of 'Lecture notes' is catalogued individually on the Library Catalogue).
Medical journals archive from Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins & more…
A collection of over 230 journals in core clinical and medical specialisms from first publication until 2003 (we also have current subscriptions to a number of these titles).
We also have also added electronic access to the back files of the following journals:
- Radiology (1932-1998)
- Journal of Endocrinology (1939-1997)
- Journal of Molecular Endocrinology (1988-1997)
- Endocrine-related Cancer (1994-1997)
Organizational behavior and human decision processes (1985-1994)
This extends our access to this journal which was previously available from 1995 onwards only.
Oxford reports on international law
A full-text collection comprising the following modules:
- Oxford Reports on International Law in Domestic Courts
- Oxford Reports on International Criminal Law
- Oxford Reports on International Human Rights Law
- Oxford Reports on International Courts of General Jurisdiction
- Oxford Reports on International Investment Claims.
Judgments and decisions are normally published within 48 hours, followed later by a full case report which provides analysis, and identifies the core issues in the case, subject terms and keywords, secondary sources that discuss the case, and related proceedings.
Science archive (1880-1996)
We now have electronic access to Science from its first publication in 1880, to complement our existing access from 1997 onwards.
Security journal archive (1999-2003)
This extends our access to this journal back to its first publication in 1999.
Zephyr
A comprehensive database of financial market deals data including:
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Rumours
- IPOs
- Venture capital deals
- Private equity deals
Zephyr includes financial summaries and structures on the companies involved.
