Boom in six-figure salaries for university big hitters

SURGING pay for university bosses has put more than 2,600 on six-figure salaries - almost four times the number in the civil service.
Salary scales have been pushed up by generous rises for managers and bidding wars between universities for "star professors" who can improve research ratings.
