You are here: University Home Institution Springboard Programme Direct Admissions Project
The Springboard Programme is about fundamentally rethinking our operational processes, providing shared sources of accurate information for everyone and enabling services to be accessed online whenever possible.   We aim to put the student centre stage and give all staff across the University the tools to offer them the best possible experience.

Direct Admissions Project

What is it?

The Direct Admissions project forms part of the Enquiries and Admissions stream of work within the Springboard Programme, which is undertaking a review of the University's student-facing organisational processes and initiating a series of projects to bring about major process and system improvements.  The work to be done by the Direct Admissions project is therefore seen as the first important step towards the delivery of the Springboard ambition to completely change the way we interact with our students while making use of the technology available to the University.

The objectives of the Direct Admissions project include; creating an application and enquiry management process that is customer focussed and underpinned by effective communication. Once delivered the Direct Admissions project will be compliant with external legislation, and be an effective marketing platform, ensuring strong student recruitment.  The project will deliver efficient and effective processes within Corporate Services and between Corporate Services and departments, thereby allowing departments and colleges to free up resources for other value adding tasks.

What will it deliver?

Once delivered the Direct Admissions Project will:

  • Improve the applicant experience through a new online application form which will amongst other benefits allow applicants to attach supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the new Points Based Immigration System
  • Reduce processing time and improve data quality
  • Improve consistency and make the overall process easier to manage, by sharing information between Corporate Services and departments
  • Complete the admissions and fees elements of the DL rollout inherited from the DiLLISS Project, so that all distance learning departments are operating a single, consistent process for the management of admissions to their DL courses, and for the processing of fees. All applicants for DL courses will be able to apply, pay and register online.
