National Science and Engineering Week 2009

National Science and Engineering Week is an annual celebration of science, engineering and technology, coordinated by the British Science Association. NSEW is funded by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills in partnership with the Engineering Technology Board.

Celebrating the International Year of Astronomy and Darwin200

NSEW 2009 at the University of Leicester runs from Friday 6 March to Saturday 14 March, with a wide variety of events for all ages. All events are free, open to the public and held on the University of Leicester campus unless stated otherwise. For campus maps and directions, click here.

6 March 2009 17:30-18:30 The Jennifer Aniston Neuron  Lecture, followed by drinks reception
7 March 2009 10:00-16:00 Science Activity Day For all ages. Incorporates 'Leicester Invents' prize-giving
8 March 2009 14:00-17:00 Please Bee My Friend! Family event but children must be accompanied.
9 March 2009 09:30-13:30 What Makes DNA so Dynamic? - DNA technology taster Taster session for Sixth Formers
9 March 2009 15:00-17:30 Business Applications from the Sciences Event for businesses
9 March 2009 17:30-18:30 A Rough Guide to Diarrhoea Lecture, followed by drinks reception
10 March 2009 17:30-18:30 Tracing Networks: Craft traditions in the ancient Mediterranean and beyond Lecture, followed by drinks reception

14 March 2009 11:00-15:00 Science in the Community For all ages, especially parents and children. NB. venue is Highfield Community Centre, not University campus.
