This Masterclass inspired by David Attenborough’s recent BBC1 Frozen Planet series, looks at how ice and glaciers has been studied throughout the twentieth century and what sort of experimental techniques have been used to investigate their strange and complex properties. Students will have the opportunity to carry out team challenges and demonstrations such as looking at small fossils which give clues to the behaviour of large ice sheets. There will also be an interactive quiz to test students on what they have learned throughout the day and see a presentation and interview with someone who has spent a lot of their career working in the Antarctic.

There will also be the opportunity to talk to current students and learn more about studying at the University.
