Currently the geography department is working on a cultural Olympiad project with the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) called ‘Walk the World’ which is all about highlighting the ways in which the UK is linked to different countries by finding evidence for these in the landscape.

The dedicated ‘Walk the World’ website shows that this is something happening all over the UK, with many larger cities linking up nominated landmarks to make a cultural walk. Leicester is currently missing from the list and we are keen to include it!

We see this as an activity where undergraduate student volunteers could teach at least three lessons on the topic, getting pupils to brainstorm ideas, find landmarks (via field work) and then produce a walk with images, maps and a script. If this sounds like a suitable activity for a Leicester City secondary school you know then please get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you.
