Regional Schools Biology Poster Competition

Venue: University of Leicester
Participant / Target Audience: Year 8 to year 13
Date: Saturday 10th March 2012
Duration: 10 am – 2.30 pm
Places: No limit

A combined Poster and Essay/Podcast Competition.
Students’ work will be judged by professionals.
First prize of £50 for the winner in both sections!
Free entry.
Students are encouraged to bring their teachers/parents.
Free lunch buffet.
Society of Biology Lecture for all.

Junior Section
Who?
Yr 8, Yr 9 or Yr 10 students
Students can enter the competition as individuals or in pairs.
What? Students should make a poster on any aspect of Biology that would fit this year’s theme Our World in Motion.

Posters should be no bigger than A1.
Some original drawing work should be included.
Students should present and ‘defend’ their poster on Sat 10 March.
First Prize of £50 for the winner or winning pair.

Senior Section
Who?
Yr11, Yr 12 or Yr 13 students
Students should enter the competition as individuals or in pairs.
What? Students should write an essay or produce a podcast on any aspect of Biology that would fit this year’s theme Our World in Motion.
Essays should be no longer than 2 sides of A4.
Podcasts (audio or video) should be no longer than 5 mins.

Essays/podcasts should be submitted in electronic format to ck53@le.ac.uk no later than Fri 2 March!
Students should ‘defend’ their work on Sat 10 March.
First Prize of £50 for the winner.
