Leicester University Chorus

A friendly, welcoming and fun-filled choir for all of those who love to sing, and with no auditions. We cover a wide range of musical genres from classical to pop and songs from musicals. Our recent concerts have included Les Miserables, Handel's Messiah, Hairspray and Karl Jenkins' Requiem.
We meet every Monday evening in term time from 7.00pm to 9.00pm in Fraser Noble Hall, accessed via 2 University Road.
University of Leicester Chamber Choir

The Leicester University Chamber Choir is a small, auditioned choir for talented singers. We perform a mixture of both sacred and secular choral works such as works by Whitacre, Vaughn Williams, and The Teddy Bears Picnic! We perform in various locations throughout Leicester and further afield, including recent trips to sing in both Peterborough and Derby Cathedrals.

University of Leicester Orchestral Society

The University of Leicester Orchestral Society rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm to 9.00pm every week on the tenth floor of the Charles Wilson building. We perform a wide variety of music from composers such as Bach and Sibelius to the music from the Lord of the Rings, producing several concerts throughout the year. There are opportunities to get involved in smaller ensembles and conducting the orchestra, as well as performing with other groups both in and out of the university.

If you play a Brass, Woodwind or Percussion instrument, you'll be very welcome at the University of Leicester's Concert Band. We play a wide variety of music from traditional Concert Band repertoire through to film scores - including many famous films and musicals from Pirates of the Caribbean, Gilbert and Sullivan to Chicago. There are no auditions, so just come along and join in.
Our friendly and relaxed band rehearses every Tuesday evening at 7.00pm on the tenth floor of the Charles Wilson (don't worry, there is a lift!).

Is swing your thing? Do you play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, guitar, bass, piano or percussion? If so, the University of Leicester Big Band is for you. We rehearse a huge variety of Big Band classics from Stevie Wonder to Michael Buble, from Frank Sinatra to Gordon Goodwin. Big Band regularly play at other societies’ functions as well as joint concerts with Concert Band in the winter term.
We rehearse every Monday in the Charles Wilson building from 7.00pm to 8.30pm so come along if it's your thing!
Leicester University Voices

A Gospel and Inspirational Choir which will inspire you to unleash the bold and beautiful soul singer within. We provide a fun environment for students to express themselves through music and meet at the ARC, University of Leicester Students’ Union, Percy Gee Building on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm. So whoever you are - beginner or advanced - if you are up for a good time come along, join our community and make a few friends too!
Band and Gig

Frustrated musician looking for a band? Or maybe you're already in a band looking for new members? Or just wanting to play music? This is the group for you. We hold jam nights, Open Mic nights, gig nights as well as bar crawls and an annual Battle of the Bands competition. Members can also use the society to advertise for other musicians, gigs and equipment. This is a great opportunity for musicians looking to further their ambitions of playing and recording.

The Music Association

The Music Association is the umbrella group for all of the University’s music societies. Every year we meet up and perform in a large Joint Music Association Concert in the spring. In between concerts we also try to get together and socialise, annual Ball in February, as well as other smaller events throughout the year.
We also have a close and unique partnership with the Philharmonia, one of the world's best orchestras based in London, where they offer many forms of musical tuition, including coaching, one-to-one tuition, guidance and practical advice to the societies and Music Scholarship holders.
