The lives of Lord Byron, Jane Austen, Keats, Wordsworth and Coleridge have inspired filmmakers from the 1940s to the present day. Felicity James, Julian North and Phil Shaw, from the School of English, University of Leicester will talk about The Bad Lord Byron, Becoming Jane, Miss Austen Regrets, Bright Star and Pandaemonium. They will be asking how accurate these ‘biopics’ are; how they deal with these writers’ love lives; how they represent their creativity; and how their lives have been updated for 20th and 21st century audiences. There will also be an opportunity for you to say what you think about these films.
