Lecture Summary
The inaugural lecture will address a common theme in much of my research: the exploitation of intense laser beams to explore problems in chemistry and physics. In particular I will show how lasers allow us to probe deeply into the bizarre and extraordinary world of atoms and molecules, where quantum mechanics reigns supreme.
