Lecture summary

In this talk we provide for an overview of how and where physics has applied its toolkit to research problems in areas of social science such as economics, finance and psychology.

In the first part of the presentation we will provide for a historical synthesis of the physics - social science interface. We highlight some of the relevant publications. In the second part of the presentation we provide for some specific examples (from economics, finance and psychology), which we hope, will underline the promise this type of research may bring to certain research problems in the social sciences. Finally, in the last part of the talk we would like to highlight some of the open issues in this type of research.
