There is a vibrant music scene at the University of Leicester and several ways that Attenborough Arts Centre (formerly Embrace Arts) can support your enjoyment and playing of music.

Music Scholarships

The University of Leicester music scholarship programme is open to any musician playing at Grade 6 or above. Successful candidates receive £500 support for instrumental teaching. Application deadline 16 October 2017, 5pm, with auditions on 30 October 2017. To find out more, visit the Music Scholarships page and see the criteria to apply.

Music practice room bookings

Attenborough Arts Centre manages bookings for 3 of the music practice rooms based on the main University campus.

  • Charles Wilson Building 10th Floor (CW10) – suitable for group and band rehearsals and music tuition. Access to the room and instrument store cupboards is via access code.
  • Attenborough Seminar Block Ground Floor (Att PR 003) – suitable for individual and duet rehearsals or one-to-one teaching.  This room has one piano.
  • Attenborough Seminar Block Ground Floor (Att PR 004) – suitable for individual and duet rehearsals or one-to-one teaching.  This room has two pianos.

Soundbites programme

In addition to the main music programme at Attenborough Arts Centre is a series of free lunchtime concerts called Soundbites. The concerts take place every Tuesday, starting at 12.45pm and last no more than one hour.
