  • The University of Leicester’s Attenborough Arts Centre celebrates its 19th year on Friday 27 May. The centre is supported by the Attenborough Family in honour of Lord Richard Attenborough who was the original patron.

  • Bringing together different artistic representations of plant life in modern and contemporary art, ‘Plant Culture: Selected from the Arts
    Council Collection’ will investigate the relationship between humans and plants. The exhibition includes work by some of the United Kingdom’s most recognisable artists and includes over 20 artworks drawn from the Arts Council Collection alongside work by international artists and loans from the British Council’s art collection.

  • VisitEngland, the national tourist board has announced the finalists for the Awards for Excellence 2016 with Attenborough Arts Centre, The Dandelion Hideaway and King Richard III Partnership representing Leicester and Leicestershire . The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Tuesday 8 March at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, during English Tourism Week.

  • Planning permission for building a new gallery at Embrace Arts, the University of Leicester’s arts centre, has been approved by Leicester City Council.

  • This new space for contemporary visual arts, scheduled to open next year, will be an extension to the existing Embrace Arts building and will follow up on the centre’s commitment to be a fully inclusive arts venue providing access to the arts for all.

  • December 2014: Awarded £75,000 by BBC Children in Need

  • University of Leicester arts centre, Embrace Arts, has been awarded a grant of £75,000 over three years by BBC Children in Need. This grant will fund an Inclusive Youth Arts Project and help make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right here in Leicester.
