Returning Undergraduates – Home (UK and EU)
Do you pay for your studies by a Tuition Fee Loan for your fees? Do you also want to apply for Maintenance Loan/Grant/University Bursary for living costs (UK students only)?
If you require either type of funding you need to complete the application for the 2010/2011 academic year AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you haven't already done so. You can do this from 28th January 2010. If your application is late then your funds will almost certainly be late too, which can have serious consequences (e.g. you will experience problems when trying to register in September if your fee loan is late).
Finance Advisers in the Student Welfare Service can advise if you have any queries – Contact us and if needed we can offer you an appointment.
N.B. 2010/11 Academic Year Full Time Undergraduate Fees £3290 (Home Students)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT FUNDING APPLICATIONS
UK students who will be studying in the UK:
You should have been reminded to apply – probably by text or email. You need to complete the PR1 Form. If you haven’t already completed it you can complete it online or print the form found at Direct Gov .
Scroll down to ‘forms for continuing students’ OR login to your student finance account.
If you need your parent(s)/partner to complete a section you should try and ensure they do so ASAP. Financial assessments of parent/partner income will be based on the 2008/2009 tax year NOT the 2009/2010 tax year therefore they should have the relevant documentation already – either end of year accounts if self-employed or a P60. Parents on benefits need to complete a Confirmation of Benefits Form available for downloading from Direct Gov.
If you will be studying overseas next year:
Complete the PR1 form – see UK students above because if you are studying overseas you remain entitled to the same support as if you were in the UK whether you are an Erasmus student or not. Students from lower income families may also receive an enhanced loan rate and help with travel costs.
If you will be undertaking a work placement overseas next year:
Complete the PR1 form (see above) but you are likely to only be entitled to a reduced rate loan and no grants/bursaries.
Students overseas, whether studying or on a work placement, DO NOT qualify for the University Bursary during their year abroad. You are also likely to be charged lower fees (or no fees if studying through ERASMUS).
EU students
The EU Assessment Team will send you an application form with most sections completed for you – you will have very little to do, just check and sign it. For most of you the form will be sent to your home address. Please ask your family to send it to you so that you can return it as soon as possible. Most of you will only be entitled to the tuition fee loan but if it is delayed you will face problems, including long queues, before you can register in September.
If you haven’t received the form you can print it off and complete it in full.
The form you need to print is the EUPR1 - please ensure it is the 2010/11 form.
