Proposals to develop University Sport Facilities to go on show
Staff, students and members of the public are being invited to give their views on proposals to develop new sporting facilities in Oadby
After 40 years the sports pavilion, which currently houses the Greenhouse Health and Fitness club and male changing rooms, is reaching the end of its useful life. Coupled with this is the increasing demand from the student population for improved sporting facilities especially a swimming pool. To this end proposals have been drawn up to demolish the sports pavilion and replace it with a new facility that will provide a swimming pool, sauna, steam and spa, a large gym and small studio for use by our students, staff and the local community.
Two proposals for the site have been worked up for the consultation phase during which local residents, students and members of University staff are being invited to provide feedback on the designs. This feedback will then be used to develop and shape future proposal before a formal planning application is put forward.
A series of consultation events have been organised to gather as many views as possible.
Between Monday 18 January and Sunday 24 January the proposals will be on display in Greenhouse One Health & Fitness Club, 40 Manor Road, Oadby. Open from 9.30am to 9pm weekdays, 11am to 6pm at weekends, members of University staff will be available to answer questions.
From Wednesday 3 February until Friday 5 February the proposals will move on to the University’s main campus in the Percy Gee Building Foyer. Open from 11am to 3pm again members of University staff will be there to answer questions.
