Buddhist Meditation Group

The group meets every Tuesday from 1.00pm to 2.00pm at the Gatehouse Chaplaincy Building opposite the bottom of Mayor's Walk

The University Buddhist Meditation Group is open to all. It meets regularly at the University Chaplaincy opposite the end of Mayor’s Walk every Tuesday lunch time at 1.00pm. Sitting Meditation is from 1.15.pm to 1.45.pm and we try to find time for a cup of tea and a chat before or after the formal meditation.

Although Buddhist imagery is evident, the emphasis is on personal meditation practice and so the Group is suitable for people from any religious faith or those with none. The meetings are open to anyone who would like the opportunity to sit and practice with others.

Basic instruction is available to beginners as is advice on sourcing advanced tuition in the Zen, Tibetan and other Buddhist Traditions or contact with established local Buddhist Groups. Anyone seeking meditation instruction should try to arrive as promptly as possible to allow time for some guidance before the sitting session begins.

Chairs are available to sit on but anyone wanting to use a cushion or other aid should try to bring their own.
