Squash at the University – tell us what you think
The Sports and Recreation Service is hoping to develop squash at the University and your views on how we should do that are invited
We currently have a student, staff and postgraduate squash night on a Tuesday and Thursday night at the Princess Road Squash Courts. It’s open to all – just turn up and join in.
However we could have a team entered into the annual inter-university student competition (BUCS) and the Leicester Squash League. The BUCS team would have to be student only, however the Leicester League could be a mixed team of students, postgraduates and staff. The teams we enter would depend on the quality and amount of keen players who wanted to play team squash.
In addition we could start a development squad for student squash. Thoughts are of us selecting 5/8/10 students to form the development squad who would have coaching at Leicestershire Squash Club and in return have a commitment to turn out for the team.
There is also an opportunity for any better players to turn out for Leicestershire Squash Club – our nearest local club to the University.
Lots of things are possible but what we do depends on what interest we have and who wants to get involved.
Please give us your thoughts! Send your suggestions to cph5@le.ac.uk.
