Sociology at Leicester

Welcome to the Department of Sociology at the University of Leicester.

The Department of Sociology at the University of Leicester was one of the first established in Britain, and has a long and well-respected tradition both in teaching and research. There are few branches of the discipline in which it has not had some influence.

Our aim is to continue our outstanding record by engaging in sociological research in a wide range of topics.

The Department of Sociology has a new full PHD studentship available as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA). The closing date for applications is 16 May 2016 and the position is to start in September 2016.

The Department of Sociology will be hosting a series of academic seminars, in 2015/2016, from leading Sociology researchers across the UK. These Seminars are free and open to all Students and Staff at the University. Click here for more details.

The Department of Sociology is organising a major international conference on Methodology in the Social Sciences. Click here for more details.
