Sociology at Leicester
The Department of Sociology at Leicester is one of the most prominent and influential in the country. It was ranked 8th out of 88 institutions in The Guardian University Guide 2014 with 92% of students satisfied with their courses. Leicester itself has been ranked top 20 (out of well over 100 institutions) for the last five years.
Leicester was one of the first departments of sociology to be established in Britain, and has a long and well-respected tradition both in teaching and research. There are few branches of the discipline in which it has not had some influence.
