About Leicester

The University of Leicester

The University of Leicester is a leading UK University, delivering high quality education and research that has an international impact. The discover of DNA genetic fingerprinting and pioneering space exploration are among our most famous achievements, but our world class research stretches across all subjects.

David Wilson LibraryThe Campus

Leicester is a campus university – to walk from one end to the other will take less than 10 minutes, provided a friend doesn’t stop you for a chat. Close to the department you will find coffee bars, restaurants and shops all operated for students. Study facilities such as computer suites and our landmark university library are on site, as is the award winning Students’ Union. Find out more about what it's like to study at Leicester.

Accommodation

The Halls of Residence are set within stunning grounds, a short distance from the campus and near the main sports facilities. A regular bus service connects the campus and halls and the Students’ Union also runs a night minibus service. Each hall has its own dining facilities, common room and bar. Self-catering accommodation is also available. Undergraduate students are guaranteed a place in University allocated accommodation if you firmly accept our offer of a place and apply for accommodation by 1st September.

London is 100 miles to the south and just over an hour away by train. The international airports at Birmingham and East Midlands are located within 45 minutes of the city.
