Research in the Behavioural Neuroscience Research Group aims to understand neural mechanisms controlling normal and abnormal behaviour. There is a particular emphasis on understanding how abnormalities of brain structure, chemistry and function lead to neurological and psychiatric disease, and for developing novel therapeutic strategies for their treatment.
We use a range of models of behaviour function and dysfunction, and are developing methods for measuring neurotransmitter release directly during behaviour.
Parallel studies enable us to make direct comparisons between the models and human function and dysfunction.
