Study Support

Our newly extended and remodelled main David Wilson library offers a mass of resource, both in terms of hard copy and electronic materials, to help you with your studies. The main library contains a dedicated postgraduate area accommodating 200-250 people comprising a computer suite with 50 networked PCs, a quiet work area with desks for individual and group study, two group work rooms, and a relaxed seating area.

Distance Learning students have access to postal book loans, allowing you to borrow up to four books at a time as well as access to electronic resources. There is a dedicated distance learning area on the Library's website.

The Student Learning Centre, part of the University's Student Support and Development Service, provides study guidance to help you to develop the higher learning skills appropriate to postgraduate students.

Dyslexia or Disability Support

The AccessAbility Centre provides pre-entry discussions or visits to discuss your support requirements, assistance with Disabled Students' Allowance Applications; space to work or rest, and specialist equipment and study support resources. Each department has an AccessAbility tutor who can advise you.

International Students

The International Office can provide all the information you need about applying for a course at the University of Leicester and can advise on Scholarships, English Language programmes and acceptability of international qualifications.

The University currently offers Masters Degree Studentships for International students.

The Graduate School

The Graduate School provides a University-wide framework for training, study support and career preparation, helping postgraduate students achieve their potential. All of our postgraduate students are members of the University's Graduate School.

Financial Support

It is important that you have enough funds to cover the full cost of your course and living expenses before you start so you need to begin your research into possible funding as soon as possible.

The Students' Union

The Students' Union supports a variety of extremely active societies, many of which have their own common rooms and regularly organise social events and/or invite speakers. There is a dedicated Postgraduate Committee which represents students to both the Union and the University.

Health

The University of Leicester's Health Centre is a student-centred general practice, which also offers a counselling service. Please see

Accommodation

The University offers postgraduate students accommodation in its halls of residence as well as providing self-catering accommodation. The Accommodation Information Service will also help students to find accommodation in the private rental sector, and advises students in privately rented accommodation on issues such as contracts, disrepair and harassment.
