PhD Opportunities in Theoretical Astrophysics for 2012

The Theoretical Astrophysics Group (TAG) is now seeking applications for up to two PhD studentships to begin in October 2012. We also welcome applications from international students who have already arranged their own funding, and from self-funded students of all nationalities. For further information on applying, and application forms, please visit the Departmental Postgraduate Study page.

Detailed information about available funding for PhD positions is given on the Departmental PhD funding page.

PhD Projects 2012

The list of projects and supervisors for 2012 is available here. However, as our research expertise and interests cover a broad range of topics, a PhD project in other areas of our research programme may be available - informal enquiries about alternative projects should be directed either to the relevant member of staff (see the research interests of staff members here) or the TAG's postgraduate admissions tutor Mark Wilkinson.

Theoretical Astrophysics PhD students at Leicester have access to world-class computer facilities including a local High Performance Computing cluster. Previous students of the Theoretical Astrophysics group have been very successful in obtaining positions both within astronomy and in industry.
