The masterclass will begin with the headline lecture: 'Nanotechnology – tiny structures, big ideas and grey goo' (Prof. Chris Binns), followed by a tour of the nanotechnology laboratories. Dr. Paul Howes will then give a lecture entitled 'Nanoparticles – invisible and everywhere' that will introduce the afternoons experimental programme. Following lunch, students will participate in an experiment to create and detect nanoparticles. The session will end with a workshop on techniques for imaging at the nanoscale, including introductions to scanning electron microscopy and scanning tunnelling microscopy.

We can offer this class to 20 - 25 students. If you are interested in participating please contact Lucy Wade in the School and College Services Team, T: 0116 252 2485, E: law14@leicester.ac.uk
