Scholarships for Masters and PhD programmes in 2013

Exciting funding opportunities available for students starting in 2013

The School of Museum Studies is delighted to be able to offer the following funding opportunities for students starting in 2013.

Campus-based Masters Programmes

  • 3 AHRC Professional Preparation Masters Studentships are available for new full time students beginning in October 2013. Open to Home/EU applicants only applying to either the Museum Studies or Art Museum and Gallery Studies Masters programmes.

Distance Learning Masters Programmes

The School of Museum Studies is pleased to announce a range of scholarships for April 2013 entry to its distance learning Masters degree programmes.
The following scholarships are available:

  • Digital Heritage
    • One scholarship for a UK/EU student to the value of 50% of course fees.
    • One scholarship for an international student to the value of 50% of course fees.
  • Museum Studies
    • Two scholarships for UK/EU or international students, each to the value of £1,000.

  • Interpretation, Representation and Heritage
      • Two scholarships for UK/EU or international students, each to the value of £1,000.

  • Learning and Visitor Studies in Museums and Galleries
      • Two scholarships for UK/EU or international students, each to the value of £1,000.

    PhD Programmes

    • AHRC PhD studentship in the School of Museum Studies - For new full time UK and EU students beginning in October 2013. The award pays University PhD fees, and a full-time annual maintenance grant. EU citizens are normally eligible to apply on a fees-only basis.
    • Museum Studies PhD studentship - Two fees-only scholarships for new UK, EU or international -  full time or distance-learning students beginning in October 2013. The award pays full University PhD fees at the UK/EU rate. International students are welcome to apply for this scholarship but the scholarship will be provided in the form of a fee discount of the UK/EU fee, the student will be liable to pay the remainder of the international fee.

    In the spotlight

    MuseumArchitecture

    A new book by Dr Suzanne MacLeod.

    The book utilises a micro history, an in-depth case study of the ‘National Gallery of the North’, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, to expose the myriad ways in which museum architecture is made.

    Museums and Communities text book

    This edited volume critically engages with contemporary scholarship on museums and their engagement with the communities they purport to serve and represent.
