Getting Here

Leicester, in the centre of England, is easy to reach by public or private transport. The local airport is East Midlands, though it is easy enough to travel from Birmingham International or some of the London Airports. The city is also easily accessible by train or bus.

From St Margaret's Bus station, the department is a 30 minute walk or a short taxi ride. Taxis are available at the bus station.

From the rail station, the Museum Studies Building is only a brief 10-minute walk.  From the station entrance, turn left along London Rd.  Cross to the other side at the first set of lights and continue along to University Road.  Turn right onto University Road and the department is only 200ft further on your right.

Parking

The School itself has limited parking; however, if you have access requirements, do please contact us for assistance.

  • Off Campus Parking Map showing parking locations around campus.  There are many parking options within an easy walk of the department, but they are often very busy on weekdays.

For information about the location of the campus and the building in relation to the city centre, please look at the Leicester City Centre Map

Accommodation

We recommend staying at one of Leicester's many well-known hotel chains (listed below), many of which are situated close to the department and the rail station; however, it is also possible to find local guest houses and bed-and-breakfast accommodation.

We do recommend that you check the reviews for all accommodation before booking as we are in no way affiliated with these establishments and therefore cannot guarantee their quality.  The hotels below are listed in no particular price order; please check their websites for current rate information.  Some hotels include breakfast in the rate, while others do not.  They are all located within a 30 minute walk of the campus.
