Open Days

Throughout the year the School organises a number of open days which we would encourage all those interested in becoming an Operating Department Practitioner to attend. These open days consist of various opportunities to talk to school staff, qualified Operating Department Practitioners and current student Operating Department Practitioners about the course and working as an Operating Department Practitioner.

You will have the chance to view a small DVD presentation about the role of an Operating Department Practitioner and be able to ask questions that you may have about the academic aspects of the course with both the tutors and current students. There will be opportunity for you to see examples of course materials and students' work.

You can have the opportunity to speak informally to actual students and Operating Department Practitioners and really get to know what life is like working in an operating theatre.

At a Parent Hospital

It is possible to arrange an informal visit to your local Parent Hospital during which you can get to talk to Managers, qualified Operating Department Practitioners and current student Operating Department Practitioners about the course and working as an Operating Department Practitioner. You will be able get a real flavour of the role and what working in an operating department is really like. Contact details can be found here.

All prospective students are actively encouraged to arrange an informal visit to a Parent Hospital at some stage during the application process.
