Selection Procedure A101
How we score applications for the A101 Course
There are two stages: written UCAS application and interview. Supplementary information should not be provided unless requested.
The written application:
The UCAS form should include a clear and concise personal statement outlining your ambitions and experiences. Medical work experience is not essential but you should be able to demonstrate that you have undertaken some kind of work where you are able to communicate with the public.
The interview:
Should you be invited for an interview at the Leicester Medical School, they will be taking place during the following weeks:
Week Commencing: 30 January 2012*
Week Commencing: 27 February 2012
Week Commencing: 26 March 2012
* It is expected that graduates applying to the A101 course would be invited for interview during this week.
On the day of the interview you will have an opportunity to tour the Leicester Campus with a current student who will tell you about the social life, accommodation, etc.
After the interview the selectors will examine the UCAS forms and interview reports. On the basis of a thorough consideration of these, one of three decisions will be made:
- offer (subject to providing a certified copy of degree certificate confirming first or upper-second-class honours degree);
- hold (the possibility of an offer still remains);
- reject.
We aim to make offers as soon as possible after the interview. However, if you do not receive an early offer, this does not necessarily mean you have been rejected.
