Spanish and Latin American Studies at Leicester

Why Study Spanish?

Spanish is a language spoken by more than 400 million people worldwide with 21 countries making up the Spanish speaking world, the majority in Latin America. Knowledge of Spanish opens up the possibilities of international travel, commerce and communication.

Both Spain and the Latin American offer fascinating and diverse cultural heritages. At the end of the first year you will get the opportunity to attend a summer school at Santiago de Compostela. This is fully funded by the University.

Our students choose from a wide range of Spanish and Latin American cultural studies modules, including film, literature, and the visual arts. We also offer the chance to study Catalan language and culture.
