Research Centre for Translation and Interpreting Studies
About the Centre
The Research Centre for Translation and Interpreting Studies, launched in February 2011, is located within the School of Modern Languages. It is a focal point for staff research in the academic fields of translation and interpreting, for programme development in these fields, and for interaction with the wider community within and outside the University, nationally and internationally.
The Centre organises regular research seminars and conferences, provides supervision of research students, and hosts academic visitors. Its members teach on the School’s programmes in translation and interpreting and offer expert advice on matters relating to translating and interpreting to the wider community. The Centre will provide or support the provision of short courses for external clients.
The Centre will seek to attract substantial amounts of external income to support research projects in its areas of interest. Taking an eclectic approach to begin with, it will fine tune its foci over the coming three to five years as its activities develop and its research student population grows; its aspiration is to become one of the foremost Centres for research in translation and interpreting in the UK and more widely.
Teaching
The University of Leicester offers an MA in Translation Studies, which can be studied full-time for one year or part-time for two years..
