LeCTIS-SISU Advanced Translation Studies Summer School

The Advanced Translation Studies Summer School is aimed at Translation Studies PhD and MA students from china who wish to deepen their knowledge of the subject in a cutting edge academic environment. The programme has been specially designed through collaboration between the University of Leicester and the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), both leading proponents in the field.

Aims for the Advanced Translation Studies Summer School

  • To enable PhD students and MA students at an advanced stage from China to acquire a body of knowledge which is at the forefront of Translation Studies;
  • To create a space outside of your usual environment to reflect, demonstrate and refine your own existing research;

Course Contents

  • Lectures on key topics delivered by Professor Margaret Rogers (University of Surrey), Professor Christina Schäffner (Aston University), Professor Kirsten Malmkjӕr (University of Leicester), three world-renowned scholars in Translation studies.
  • Seminars led by tutors to further discuss and explore these topics.
  • Group presentation on projects based on areas and methodologies delivered at the lectures.
  • Presentation and discussion of participants’ own research with feedback from professors and LeCTIS’s staff members.
  • Local cultural visits and social programme.

Entry Requirements

Participants should be studying for an MA or PhD in Translation Studies.

Accommodation

Participants will live in self-catered university accommodation in Oadby Student Village. This dedicated facility is situated approximately three kilometres from the campus and a bus pass will be provided. Accommodation will be in single study bedrooms with a private bathroom. Kitchen facilities will be shared and all bills and wi-fi access will be included.
