Research Summary
Ann Miller’s research interests include bande dessinée (French-language comic strip), particularly the work produced by small publishing collectives since the early 1990s, and French cinema. She is also interested in the methodology of language learning and teaching. She is the joint editor of Euorpean Comic Art and a member of editorial board for the Language Learning Journal.
Research Student Supervision
Dr Miller is joint supervisor to Oliver Brett, who is working on the mediation of minoritarian voices in French and Italian documentary cinema.
Teaching and Administration
Dr Miller is a University Fellow, and therefore no longer a permanent member of the teaching staff. She will, however, continue to offer some teaching on a limited basis.
External examiner at Leeds Metropolitan University.

To be published 2011 by University of Nebraska Press: Textual Visual Selves: Photography, Film and Comic Art in French Autobiography. Co-edited with Natalie Edwards and Amy Hubbell.
To be published in 2012 by University of Wales Press: Approximately Autobiographical. This book on autobiography in French-language comics is being co-authored with Murray Pratt.
