Research

My research interests include Chinese literature in English translation, migrant literature, and Asian American literature, focusing on issues of cultural translation, power, hegemony and globalisation.
Well published in literary translation, I also examine issues in literary translation from a practitioner’s perspective.

Supervision

I welcome enquiries from prospective postgraduate students, particularly in the following areas:

  • Literary translation between English and Chinese
  • Migrant writing
  • Asian American literature
  • British and Chinese encounters in the 19th and 20th century from a translational perspective
